CEMENT STABILSATION OFAMBULANCE ROAD - GREAT YARMOUTH RACECOURSE

CEMENT STABILSATION OFAMBULANCE ROAD

GREAT YARMOUTH RACECOURSE

The ambulnace road at Great Yarmouth Racecourse was badly eroded with a lot of rogue vegetation within the track making it un stable especially in wetter weather.

One of the main contributing factors for the erosion on this track is the ground composition. Over the whole of the site upon trial hole investiagation, there was a lack of sub-material that we could reclaim as recycled material.

This site required imported aggregate to process. As the site was going to be cement stabilised for a fixed, more permanent solution we chose recylced brick aggregate as it blend incredibly well with the cement, resulting in a very hard, fixed profile.

The process used at Great Yarmouth Racecourse
1. The vegetation was scraped away from the trck and disposed of in an environmentally firendly manner.
2. Brick rubble was deposited over the entirety of the site.
3. The brick rubble was crushed into the amblunace road to provide the material that was to be cement stabilised.
4. Cement was applied over the site and was crushed again to blend.
5. The material was the shaped to specific cambers and levels to ensure water run off and wear rate.
6. The site was compacted down throroughly.
7. Water was added to chemically fix the road.
