The drive, fairly typical of most farm drives. Its main contitution is tarmac with areas that hve been repaired with hardcore and road planings.
The drive is uneven and potholed due to the traffic, weather and time.
Puddles and gathering of watering along the edge is a problem.
The Crushing, On this drive there was a lot of existing hardcore material and whilst the site would get watery the siter itself was free from spoil.
The depths of the potholes were measured on site and the crushing machine was set to a depth that sat just below the deepest potholes.
The drive was then crushed until the aggregate produced was refined enough to rebind but large enough to provide the drives stabilty
The Grading; grading on this site ws importan as we saw on earlier photos how the water gathers along on side of the drive. In excessive cases we would advise that we excavate a gulley or french drain along the one side. In this case by using the grader to pitch the fall on the drive in conjunction with the fall on the field we can steer the water into the ajoining field where it can run away.
The Compaction; once we are satisfied with the pitch of fall and the levelness we can then compact the drive. The aggregate (40mm down to dust) produced by the crusher will now bind together beneath a vibrating roll.
The finished result; A smart drive without holes and rutting and a HAPPY CUSTOMER!!!
